Hello everyone, Namaste!
I am Yugal Sahu, currently working as a Java full stack developer at one of the top service-based companies. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering in May 2023 and joined the company in June 2023. Having been with the company for 11 months now, I would like to share my life learnings and experiences during this time.
Having spent 11 transformative months with the company, I'm excited to share the invaluable life lessons and rich experiences I've gained during this journey.
1) Life as a beginner and novice coder.
During my first 6 months, I struggled immensely to grasp the application's functionality and flow. The journey was tough, and I often felt like giving up. However, as time went on, I gained clarity and a deeper understanding of the entire system.
2) It's Not What you think.
During my University Days, I used to think that being a coder was just about writing code and that’s it. However, it's much more than that. My team is small; it has three members with one manager. In the first six months, I worked closely with my two teammates, who taught me that this journey is often solitary, and I had to navigate it on my own. Despite the challenges, it turned out to be an invaluable learning experience.
3) Team is important!
Yes, the team is crucial, knowledge transfer is vital, and most importantly, 'YOU' matter too.
During those six months, I felt lost and the struggle was palpable. However, everything changed when I gained a new teammate with six years of experience, who was incredibly supportive and composed.
As a social being learning and collaborating is important, and yes I learn this with my senior.
Take Aways from my blog:-
Starting is Always hard.
It's okay to be a lone learner.
Don't give up, coding is easy.
You can learn alone and with team too.
From next blog, I will share my technical learnings, till then stay tuned.
